Aquabait’s live and preserved tube-worms are both ideal for catching fish, although they both have their pro’s and con’s.
It comes down to personal preference, some anglers prefer the live marine tube-worms because they are still moving on the hook itself which may cause the fish to sense the bait better, although the live worms can at times be challenging to thread onto a hook as they are still producing mucus. Other anglers prefer the preserved Aquabait tube-worms because they can be stored in the freezer for long periods of time, so can be put away into the freezer for a fishing holiday later in the year.
The preserved tube-worms have a tougher feel due to the preservation process and are found to be threaded onto a hook easily, and they hang on to that hook like glue! Either way, your bound to catch a fish on Aquabait marine tube-worms, whether they are live or preserved. More information about the Aquabait tube-worms can be found on our worms page and product page, check them out, otherwise you should be fishing!!
Our preservation technique allows the attractants within the worm itself to become more concentrated, therefore once placed into seawater these natural fish attractants are released much faster than with live worms. This causes a very fast and accurate bite from the fish allowing it to be hooked. Also, our preservation technique makes it easier to thread the worm onto your hook due to its firmer texture and no mucous production is present as with live bait. There is no doubt that our marine worm is extremely attractive bait to a large range of marine fish.
Marine worms are at the bottom of the food chain in the wild and from a very early age fish are dependant on marine worms to provide the necessary diet requirements for maturation and development. The variety of fish you can catch is very much up to the angler’s techniques, but to give an idea of the range of marine fish most commonly caught by marine worms are as follows; bream, whiting, flathead, mulloway, dart, morwong, blackfish, squire, flounder and leather jacket just to name a few.
